Production Commenced — What It Means
Maamba Solar Energy Limited (MSEL), a step-down subsidiary of Nava Limited, has formally commissioned its 100 MW solar power facility in Zambia. This development marks the commencement of power evacuation to the Zambian national grid, integrating clean energy into the country utility infrastructure. The project represents a significant expansion for Nava Global, the company international arm, which holds a 65% stake in MSEL.
By transitioning to utility-scale renewable energy, the company is diversifying its energy portfolio in Africa, moving beyond its established thermal power and mining operations to address regional demand for sustainable power solutions.
Revenue Impact
The financial visibility of the 100 MW project is anchored by a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with ZESCO Limited, Zambia national power utility. Under this long-term contract, ZESCO will procure the entire power volume generated by the solar plant, providing a predictable revenue stream for the group international operations. This agreement complements Nava existing energy presence in Zambia, where it already operates major thermal assets.
The addition of solar capacity is expected to strengthen the subsidiary cash flow profile while mitigating operational risks associated with single-source energy generation and fluctuating commodity prices.
Strategic Milestone
The commissioning of our 100MW solar project in Zambia marks a defining step in Nava’s journey into renewable energy. This milestone reflects our commitment to sustainable growth and reinforces our vision of building a diversified, future-ready energy portfolio across geographies.
Financial Context
Nava Limited reported a TTM operating revenue of 4,309.49 crore with a quarterly operating profit margin of 43.45% as of June 2026. With a market capitalization of 15,685.6 crore, Nava is classified as a mid-range performer on the Trendlyne durability index with a score of 55.
This solar commissioning aligns with the group broader objective to participate in the global shift toward clean energy while building a scalable platform for future ventures.
