Production Commenced — What It Means
Premier Energies has operationalized its 7 GW N-type TOPCon G12R solar cell facility at Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh. This facility is currently the largest solar cell manufacturing plant in India, covering 101 acres. The plant utilizes high-throughput technology to manufacture approximately 88,000 solar cells every hour.
With this commissioning, the company's total manufacturing footprint has expanded to 10.6 GW, reinforcing its scale in the domestic renewable energy market. The facility is designed to be future-ready, allowing for potential upgrades to next-generation TOPCon+ technologies, including poly-finger metallisation and advanced edge-isolation processes.
Path to This Milestone
- The Naidupeta facility was developed with a dedicated capital expenditure of ₹3,293 crore
- Project forms part of a larger ₹12,500 crore three-year capital expenditure program
- Commissioning was achieved on time and within the projected budget targets
- Development includes a Zero Liquid Discharge system for sustainable water recycling
- Advanced AI and digital systems were integrated for predictive performance analysis
Revenue Impact
The ramp-up of the 7 GW facility is expected to contribute to the company's revenue growth, which recorded a TTM operating revenue of ₹8,466.23 crore. Premier Energies reported a TTM net profit of ₹1,665.04 crore, reflecting a 61.11% year-on-year increase. The added capacity allows the company to serve growing demand for high-efficiency solar products across both domestic and international markets.
By increasing scale and operating efficiency, the company aims to improve manufacturing competitiveness. This capacity expansion aligns with planned backward integration into ingots and wafers to build a fully integrated solar manufacturing platform.
Sector Tailwinds
India's solar sector is witnessing robust growth driven by the national clean energy transition. Premier Energies is positioning itself to capture this demand by diversifying into inverters, transformers, and battery energy storage systems alongside its core cell manufacturing. The company trades at a PE TTM of 24.59, compared to the industry PE TTM of 39.46.
It has maintained a return on equity of 35.04%, which is significantly higher than the sector average of 19.78%, reflecting efficient capital utilization during its aggressive expansion phase into high-efficiency N-type TOPCon technology.
