A Research-Driven Framework for India's Aging Population

Max India Foundation and the Max Institute of Healthcare Management at the Indian School of Business have established SCALE to address the evolving needs of India's seniors. Supported by a multi-year CSR grant, the initiative creates a formal bridge between academic research and real-world industry applications. The collaboration focuses on critical sector dynamics including consumer behavior, workforce participation, and technology adoption.

By translating fragmented learnings into actionable insights, the program intends to assist industry stakeholders and policymakers in making informed decisions for an aging demographic that requires sustainable and accessible care. The partnership seeks to improve service design and investment across the senior care ecosystem.

Antara Senior Care Integrates Industry Expertise into SCALE

As the founding industry partner, Antara Senior Care provides the SCALE initiative with extensive operational experience across its senior living and assisted care business lines. Launched in 2013, Antara operates residential communities in Dehradun and Noida, with recent expansions into Gurugram via Estate 360 and Estate 361. The company's direct-to-consumer arm, AGEasy, has impacted over 9 lakh lives since its 2023 inception and is projected to reach 150 crore in revenue by the end of the 2027 fiscal year.

This practical expertise in chronic disease management and wellness solutions forms the core of the new research partnership, enabling data-driven pilots and evaluations.

Strategic Expansion and Earlier Financial Collaborations

Max India's subsidiary has pursued multiple ecosystem partnerships throughout 2025 and 2026. In May 2026, Antara partnered with GMoney to enhance financing for recovery care, following a February 2026 tie-up with Star Union Dai-ichi Life Insurance for specialized senior financial solutions. Earlier, in May 2025, the company collaborated with Axis Bank to reach 20 lakh members of the Silver Linings Program.

These alliances complement the latest research-focused partnership with ISB, aiming to address fragmentation in the sector. These moves come as the company reported a quarterly revenue of 59.74 crore for the period ended June 2026, representing a 62.9 percent year-on-year increase.

Voice of Leadership

The SCALE Initiative brings together research, practitioner insights and stakeholder perspectives to strengthen the evidence base around ageing and care. Our aim is to translate this knowledge into more effective care models, stronger support systems and better outcomes for seniors and their families.

— Tara Singh Vachani, Executive Chairperson, Antara Senior Care

Impact on Policy and Industry Practice

SCALE brings a management and evidence-based perspective to this challenge, examining how businesses, healthcare organisations and public institutions can respond to these changes across financing, technology, workforce participation, consumer and producer behaviour, and social inclusion.

— Professor Sarang Deo, Executive Director, Max Institute of Healthcare Management, ISB
